Binance cryptocurrency exchange will stop supporting 12 anonymous cryptocurrencies for investors in France, Italy, Spain and Poland from June 26, the company announced.
The affected coins include Decred (DCR), Dash (DASH), Zcash (ZEC), Horizen (ZEN), PIVX (PIVX), Navcoin (NAV), Secret (SCRT), Verge (XVG), Firo (Firo), Beam (BEAM), Monero (XMR) and MobileCoin (MOB).
The reason for the change is the upcoming regulations in Europe related to anonymous coins. The EU has been preparing for the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation and is drafting a new proposal for crypto taxation.
“While Binance strives to list as many assets as possible, we must also comply with local regulations related to the trading of anonymous coins to maintain our operations in the respective countries,” a Binance spokesperson said.
Other countries in the world, including South Korea, Japan and Dubai (UAE), have also imposed bans on anonymous coins to prevent the risk of money laundering and criminal activity.
