**Babel Finance Hires Ex-HSBC Executive to Boost Crypto Regulation Efforts**

Babel Finance, a crypto lending and trading platform, has hired former HSBC executive Wipe Tai as its new head of regulatory affairs.
In a statement, Babel said that Wipe will be responsible for developing and implementing the company's regulatory strategy, as well as managing its relationships with regulators.
“Wipe’s extensive experience in the financial services industry will be invaluable to Babel as we continue to grow our business and expand our global reach,” said Flex Yang, Babel’s co-founder and CEO.
Babel closed a $40 million Series A funding round in May, and has lent over $2 billion and counts over $500 million in crypto assets under management.
The company has also applied for a Type 9 Asset Management License in Hong Kong, but has yet to receive approval.
Huobi Technology, another major crypto exchange, secured the license in August 2020 and launched dedicated crypto funds in April.
