**Aptos Token Price Drops After $ 700 Million Worth of Tokens Unlocked**
The price of the Aptos (APT) token has fallen by more than 3% in the past 24 hours after the project unlocked over $700 million worth of tokens.
Token unlocks can often correspond with drops in asset prices as investors try to sell ahead of what could be a flood of new tokens on the market.
APT has fallen by over 7% in the past seven days to $6.57, underperforming Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH), according to CoinDesk market data.
Aptos previously unlocked roughly $30 million worth of APT tokens in July 2022 and $50 million in April 2022. In both instances, APT had fallen in price in the week leading up to the day of the unlocks.
Aptos representatives did not respond to a CoinDesk request for comment by press time.
