**82% of institutional investors plan to increase their exposure to crypto in 2023**
A survey of 100 institutional investors and asset managers by London-based cryptocurrency fund Nickel Digital Asset Management found that 82% of them plan to increase their exposure to crypto assets in 2023.
The research was conducted online in May and June and surveyed 50 asset managers and 50 institutional investors with prior experience with crypto assets in the United States, UK, France, Germany and UAE.
Of those surveyed, 40% said they would continue to buy more crypto, while 7% said they would reduce their holdings and only 1% said they would sell all of their crypto.
However, Nickel noted that institutional investors still have a relatively low exposure to crypto assets, with most only dipping their toes in the water to see how the market performs.
The survey found that the main reason for investing more in crypto assets is the potential for long-term capital growth, with 58% of respondents citing this as their top reason.
Even though the market has seen a significant decline in recent months, Bitcoin is still up 18% year-to-date, while Ethereum is up a massive 215% since January 1.
About 38% of respondents said that their exposure to crypto assets has made them more confident in the asset class, while 37% said that more companies and fund managers should be investing more heavily in crypto.
“The belief in crypto assets is growing and we expect this trend to continue,” said Anatoly Crachilov, co-founder and managing director of Nickel Digital.
Our analysis in early June this year showed that 19 listed companies with a market capitalization of more than $1 trillion had invested about $6.5 billion in Bitcoin, up from $4.3 billion at the start of the year.
