**Turkish court acquits majority of Thodex crypto exchange executives in $2 billion fraud case**
A Turkish court has acquitted the majority of executives involved in the $2 billion Thodex crypto exchange fraud case, local media reported Thursday.
The Anatolian 9th Heavy Penal Court in Istanbul acquitted 16 of the 21 defendants and released four of the seven jailed defendants due to a lack of evidence. The other defendants were given varying degrees of imprisonment for various crimes.
The court found Thodex founder Faruk Fatih Özer guilty of fraud and sentenced him to 40,564 years in prison, but he remains at large and is believed to be in Albania.
