GMO, a Japanese IT company, has unveiled a new 7nm Bitcoin miner that it claims has a hash rate of 24th/s. The miner, called the B2, is said to consume 2,300W of power.
By comparison, the current market leader - Bitmain's Antminer S9 - offers a hash rate of 14th/s and consumes around 1,300W of power.
The B2 is priced at $1,999, which is significantly more expensive than the Antminer S9, which costs $837.
GMO's CEO, Masatoshi Kumagai, said of the new miner: "I respect Bitmain, but we will top them."
The B2 is expected to go on pre-sale on June 6 and will begin shipping in October.
